I will start with my Dragon Age charactes. They are based on the game by Bioware but are mostly original in the existing setting of Thedas.
Milan:
My Grey Warden from Dragon Age - Milan Cousland. That's him during the Inquisition timeline.
Story:
"I hear the song that clouds my mind,
a song of death an pain.
It calls me down into the dark,
to play the final game."
- From the diary of Milan
Milan is a Grey Warden of Ferelden. He is always accompanied by a Mabari warhound named Rasha.
Milan was risen by his uncle Bryce Cousland, the Teryn of Highever because his father vanished when he was 4 years old and his mother died while giving birth to Milan (His mother was Bryces sister). Bryce and his wife allways tried to treat Milan like their own son Fergus and so Milan had a sheltered childhood.
Milan sees Fergus like his own brother and had a close relationship to his uncle and his aunt. When Milan was 23 years old, Bryce and his women were murderd by a rivaling family and Milan had to flee and only survived with the help of the Grey Wardens who found him ill and more dead than alive near the Korcari Wilds.
Some ideas I have for him:
Milan is romantically involved with Morigan, which made it impissoble for him to undergo the dark ritual. The idea of her leaving with a child of him that he will never able to raise was like a stab with a dagger in his heart. Especially cause his own mother died and his father disapeared. He doesn't want his child to have the same fate.
So he decides not to undergo the dark ritual and cause he does not want his friend Alistair to die he decides to take the final blow on the Archdemon and sacrificing himself.
So they fight the Archdemon and Milan is able to kill it, which leaves him uncontious and gravely wounded.. but not dead like everybody expected and it should have been. Later on Milan finds out that he "carries" the untainted soul of Urthemiel himself (The gods soul was it also who saved him from death but even Milan does not know this at that moment and he has now idea how that could have happend).
He keeps it a secret cause he is affraid that this information can be turned against him and makes others believe it must have been the mercy of the maker, that he survived (the funny thing is, I had this idea long bevor it was know that Flemeth carries a soul of an elven godess ).
Milan tries to find out why he was able to survive and why he was not killed by the old gods soul (What normaly happens to the Warden that kills the Archdemon.)
He will meet Morrigan again.. but it will take about 10 years. Morrigan really feels guilty when she finaly understands what she has lost and she is affraid of meeting Milan.. so she avoids him and he does the same cause he is the opinion that Morrigan only used him and never really loved him.
Nontheless Milan can't stop to love her and she actually does too still love him.
She gets to know that Milan survived so but she doesn't know know why unless Milan tells her.. when they meet again.
Morrigan will not admit at first, that she still loves Milan.. Milan in contrary will not hide his feelings..
The first time Morrigan will admit her love is, when Milan decides to sacrifice himself to bring Urthemiel back in a living form.. (he will simply leave a letter for her, cause he can't bring himself to tell her).. she will follow him.. to stop him but will be to late.. she will meet the god in human form.. Milan allready dead..
Urthemiel touched by her honest feelings and cause he was long part of Milan decides to give Milan his live back sacrificing a part of himself..so Milan and Urthemiel are connected from now on (so if something happens to the god Milan will suffer the same and vice versa).
Urthemiel:
Urthemiel, the Dragon of Beauty, was a draconic Old God worshiped as the god of beauty in the ancient Tevinter Imperium. Urthemiel was awakened by darkspawn and transformed into an Archdemon in 9:30 Dragon, precipitating the Fifth Blight.
Among the ancient Tevinter people, Urthemiel was the fairest and most graceful of the Old Gods. His beauty is now a horrid mockery of the being he once was. If not religious canon of the Tevinters, at least some dragon cults believed Urthemiel sired a daughter, Urzara.
Urthemiels soul somhow was "absorbed" by Milan, without causing Milan to die. So the Soul of the god accompanies Milan for more than ten years, learning what it means to be mortal.
Milan starts to realize that the gods in ther untainted form also have somhow feelings, motivations.. and are more than the destructive forces they are when tainted into archdemons. He also slowly starts to understand that Urthemiel feels responsible for the mortals and actually wants to help. He learns that a lot of lore that tells about the gods are not true and that there is a lot more behind all that.
Urthemiel will recognize how painfull it can be for mortals to be used and so he decides never to take over Milan (he starts to like the grey warden who carries him).. he will become a lot of more mercyfull and good natured cause of all that experience. Also he will see what motrtals sacrifice to stop, what the old gods and the insane magisters have brought over the world (the blight) out of egoism and the hunger for power.
Urthemiel never takes over but somtimes Milan can hear him talk or sees him in dreams (in his untainted form and often also in a human shape not allways as dragon). In the 10 years in Milans body Urthemiel will learn a lot of human feeling, sacrifice, honor, loyality, pain.. which will help him to understand humans a lot better.. cause when they still were the old gods in Tevinter they never really did understand the mortals only used them or were pretty selve centered wihch ended in the magisters tainting the golden city (we all know that the old goods seem to have pushed the mortals into that direction) which also was a reason "The Maker" did sent them into their slumber and becoming tainted by the Darkspawn.
Actually it was a punishment form "The Maker" who for me is nothing else than a more powerfull god who took care for the "lesser" gods.

Hektor
Hektor is a Grey Warden of Orlais. He is a good friend of Milan. He accompanies Milan and therfore is often seen in Ferelden.
Hektor was actually rescued from Milan. Some nobles wanted him hanged because he was accussed to have raped a young noble woman what he never did but the father of the noble woman was so enraged seeing his daugther with a man he did not choose for her that he told everybody, that Hektor forced her.
Hektor is of no noble blood so he didn't stand a chance against the well known Nobel. No one believed him and therefor he was found guilty.
Milan used the right as Warden to recruit Hektor and saved him from death.

Collin
My canon Inquisitor from Dragon Age.
Collin is the only son of Bann Trevelyan. His relationship to his father is not a very good one cause he never lived up to the expectations his father did put into him. Bann wanted him to become a Templar. Collin clearly stated that he will not be forced into a live he does not wanna live... and he get his chance when the world goes mad at the Conclave.. a peace meeting of the Templars and the Mages is shattered.
Collin is not very fond of his family and the only person he really likes is his uncle (the brother of his father).
His uncle is the only person who seems to understand Collin and that he does not want to be another "toy" of the chantry.
Collin © by me (only used some of the Trevelyan BG from Inquisiton for him).
